In order to backup or restore your 3DS saves from a cartridge or eShop title, you will first need access to CFW or homebrew. CFW is the preferred option, and a comprehensive guide on how to set it up can be found. If you do not have what you need to install CFW, and your 3DS is on a lower firmware, check Smealum's homebrew website to see if you have a compatible homebrew entrypoint. If you do not have one, you cannot backup or restore your 3DS saves without a Cybergadget, which only works on Japanese retail cartridges and is outside the scope of this guide. Powersaves, the SMS4, and the NDS Backup Adapter Plus will not work because they export the raw save. It must first be decrypted, which can only be done with a hacked 3DS or a Cybergadget. Using CFW If you're using CFW, the recommended tool is Checkpoint.
A tutorial on how to set up and install it can be found here: Using Homebrew If you're using Homebrew, or if you simply do not want to use Checkpoint, follow this tutorial to use an older tool called JKSM: Using an Emulator If you're playing on an emulator instead of a console, getting your save data is far easier and requires no hardware except for a compatible computer. Read here to learn how to get your saves from Citra 3DS: Edited May 19, 2018 by evandixon.
Apologies if this is a sore subject for some, but after recently hearing that The Nameless Game got a fan translation, I really wanted to try that game out. However, since I've heard that the features make a lot of use of the DS hardware itself, I'd rather play it on a handheld than just emulating it on PC (I also wish I could just play it legit, but Square's test PR from way back have fucked over any chances of that ever happening). I currently have a New 3DS XL on version 10.7.0-32U. Any carts that will work on that, I would like to know.
The program, which is accepting bugs on the Nintendo 3DS console exclusively, offers a minimum bounty of $100 for verified bugs, and a maximum bounty of $20,000.
How to Dump and Decrypt 3DS Cartridges You must have a 3DS for this, you cannot use a PC alone. Note on DLC and updates Dumping a cartridge does not dump DLC and updates for that cartridge. Those are stored on the SD card. See for more information. GodMode9 With the onset of sighax and boot9strap, the supported method of dumping game cartridges is GodMode9. Required tools.

Once this process completes, the game will be a.3ds file inside /gm9/out/ and is immediately usable with Citra. There was an error with dumping. Make sure you are using the.
There are several things that commonly cause this type of problem: 1) The pins inside the 3DS game slot may be dirty. If this is the case then the first thing to try is to insert a game and then take it back out several times in a row (like 10). If that doesn't work then you can use rubbing alcohol and soak a q tip in it, then rub it on the pins of one of your games. After the pins are wet with alcohol insert it and take it out several times. If none of this works then try the next option: 2) If the pins in the game slot are not dirty then you likely have either a bent pin or one that has been pushed down and needs to be pulled back up. The best way to tell if this is the case is to use a good, bright light and shine it into the game slot. While the light is on it you need to take something like a dental pick and insert it into the game slot.

You will see a thin metal piece that will move. You need to move this piece up so you can see the actual game slot pins. Black swan game fixes. See if any are bent. You also need to look at them all very carefully to see if any of them are lower than the others. If they are then they need to be bent back up.
You will also want to look to see if there is anything jammed in the game slot. I've seen that several times too.
Both methods (but especially #2) need to be done very carefully. Someone who is good and experienced at this can probably fix it without taking anything apart. Sometimes the bottom case needs to be removed to repair it, and if it's really broken the whole game slot will need to be replaced. I could repair this for you if you don't feel comfortable doing it.
